Dear friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus heals Simon’s mother-in-law with tender compassion, lifting her up so she can immediately serve. That evening, He cures many of the sick and tormented who crowd the door—restoring them to wholeness. Yet before dawn, He prays alone in the wilderness, then declares: “Let us go elsewhere… for that is why I came.” Jesus heals not merely to relieve pain, but to make us healthy, body, mind, and spirit, so we can rise and serve God and neighbor.
